Kapaleeswar Temple – It is located at Mylapore in Chennai. The presiding deity is Lord Kapaleeswar (Lord Siva). Gopuram, Mandapam and tank are interesting points to see.

St. George Fort Museum

Theosophical Society - It was founded by Madam H.P Blavatsky and Col H.S Olcott of USA. It deals with religion & Philosophy. A largest banyan tree, which is several hundred years old, is still alive in this campus. It is located in Adayar.

Kalashetra

Kalashetra – An important cultural centre for Bharathanattiyam is Kalakshetra, on the beach in the south of the city It was founded by Ms.Rukmani Devi Arundale in 1936. It is a renowned training centre for the classical dances & music of India. It is also called as 'Temple of Arts'. It is located 10 Km from Chennai.

Marina Beach

Marina Beach – It is the second largest beach in the world runs for 12 Km along the shoreline of the city Arignar Anna Zoological Park– It is simply called as Vandaloor Zoo & 25 Km from Chennai city. Animals can be seen in a large open island type enclosure with natural environment. The attractions are Noctnimal house, Safari Park, a walk through aviary, the pre-historic Animal Park, Zoo education and interpretation and Aquarium.

Valluvar Kottam

Valluvar Kottam – It is located in Kodambakkam and it is constructed in the memory of the classical Tamil poet and saint Thiruvalluvar who wrote Thirukkural. It is a replica of the Thiruvarur Temple Chariot.

Snake Park

Snake Park - It is located in Guindy. It houses an impressive collection of snakes. Here the demonstration of extraction of Venom is an absorbing activity. The King Cobra, Python, Turtle, Tortoise and the Monitor Lizard are some of the popular reptiles.

Fairs & Festivals in Chennai

The Brahmotsavam (including the Arubathimoovar - 63 saints festival) of Kapaleeswar temple located in Mylapore is celebrated in the Tamil month of Panguni (March-April) and it lasts for ten days. A big fair is held near the temple. The float festival held in January - February in Mylapore is also very popular.

Of all the festivals celebrated in the Parthasarathy temple in Triplicane, the most important is the Vaikunta Ekadasi observed (December-January)

In the month of December, there is a great musical (Karnatic music and dance) festival
