General Info
At the southern most tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, the Indian
Ocean and the Bay of Bengal meet, lies Kanniyakumari, a lovely
beach and an important pilgrim center. Kanniyakumari is also famous for its spectacular sunrises and sunsets, especially on full moon days. Kanniyakumari was once referred to as the "ALEXANDRIA OF THE
EAST". This place has been a great centre for art, culture, civilization
and pilgrimage for years. It was also a famous centre for commerce
and trade. Islam, Christianity and Jainism religions have greatly
contributed to the Architectural wealth and literal heritage of this place. Swami Vivekananda, the great spiritual leader and disciple of Swamy
Ramakrishna Paramahamsa spent a lot of time in meditation on a rock
in the sea at Kanniyakumari. There is a memorial built for him there. The beach is a mesmerising sight with multi-coloured sand, and the sea
dashing on the rocks..
