Dodda Ganesha Temple

Dodda Ganesha Temple : Situated on the Bull temple Road of Basavanagudi, Dodda Ganapathi Temple is one of the most popular temples of the city and is widely known for its huge Statue of Lord Ganesha which is about 18 feet high and 16 feet wide. Also popularly known as Shakthi Ganapathi and Satya Ganapthi, the statue here at the temple is said to have grown to its present size on its own. This temple is also known for its Ganesha festival which attracts visitors from everywhere. During the festival which goes on for a week, the idol of Lord Ganesh is decorated in different ways. The most attracting one is Benne Alankara where idol is smeared with a 100 kg of butter. Ganesha Idol is also covered with in cream colour and is decorated with golden laces and buttons. It is the best time to visit this temple as you get a glimpse of the colorful fervor of the festival.
