Attara Kacheri

Another exquisite building for drive pass located just opposite to the Vidhana Soudha is the Attara Kacheri. It was built during the reign of Tipu Sultan , the Emperor of Mysore. In order to accommodate eighteen more departments in addition to those functioning in the Palace, the Emperor went for this building and the entire construction work done over a period of 4 years from 1864 to 1868 worth Rupees 4.5 Lakhs was supervised by the British Civil Servant Lewin Bentham Boring. He had a good vision about the building and European Classical Gothic style has been used in the Architecture.The building is also called as Bowring’s Attara Kacheri after him. This is also one of the tourist attractions in Bangalore but visitors are not allowed.
