Manakula Vinayagar Temple in Pondicherry
This Vinayaka temple, the most revered in India, welcomes worshippers from all religions. It stands out for its unique features, notably being the only temple where Lord Ganesha is depicted with his consorts, standing on three legs—a rarest portrayal. Adding to its splendor, the main tower is lavishly adorned in gold.

The temple celebrates all Hindu festivals with great pomp. During Ganesh Chaturthi, Brahmotsavam, and Pradosham, devotees throng to offer special poojas.

Devotees present offerings such as garlands of sacred grass, sweet puddings, fruits, and puffed rice to the Lord. A notable gift was a diamond crown bestowed by a foreign visitor. Morning and evening abhishekams are routine rituals here.

Specialty of the Temple:
The temple boasts a fully golden chariot, 10 feet tall, which devotees pull through the town annually during the Vijayadasami festival. It is both an important pilgrimage site and a tourist destination in Pondicherry, existing before the French occupation.
