Gateway of India - Maharashtra

Gateway of India

One of the popular monuments of Mumbai, standing majestically at the sea shore with the backdrop of heritage buildings is Gateway of India. Built with an European architecture, blended with Gujarati and Islamic styles, Gateway Of India, distinctly different from Arc De Triomphe of Paris.

The triple arched Gateway was built in memory of King George V and his visit in 1911. The 25 meters tall structure is closely connected to British History and its impact on Indian Political Scenarios. The tall structure is flocked by the tourists and the locals alike strolling and taking in the scenery, especially after sunset. World Renowned Taj Hotel resurrected after the terror attacks, the treasures of Colaba Causewaay, shoppers’ paradise and Loepold Café and the statue of the Great Chatrapati Sivaji deserve special mention here.
