Kulpakji Temple Introduction :

The temple is 2000 Year old and the temple and it is renovated in 1960 By Rasiklal Manikchand Dhariwal (Manikchand group). The Jain temple has very buitefull architecture. The floor is fully made of agar marble painting and terrace is constructed of red stone Rajasthan work.

The temple is made up of three different Jain god blocks, those are rishab dev, Mahvir dev and Godess Padmavati. The temple is best place for architecture lovers and from Jain temple we visited pembarthi village it is famous for its ancient metal sheet work.

History of the Temple

The region around Kulpakaji temple served as an alternate capital for the Chalukya Dynasty. In this 11th century temple, everybody is awestruck to see the huge Rishaba statue made of greens stone, worshipped as Manikyaswamy, acclaimed in the Guinness Book of World Records also.

It is also believed that the temple was established as a religious centre of Jainism during the Rashtrakutas period. Between 12th and 17th centuries, the temple lost its fame due to the decline of the Jainism activities and got reverberated after that following the revamping of the temple.

Speciality of the Temple

Historians have recorded that Mandodari, wife of Ravana was the ardent devotee of this temple and the idol is brought from Sri Lanka by the Kalyani Chalukyas. The presiding deity of this temple is the Lord Adinatha, the first Tirtankara of the Jain religion.

Temple Timings : The temple is open on all days from 6 am to 7 pm.

Mahavir Jayanthi is the festival celebrated in a grand manner in this temple. Thousands of devotees assemble on this auspicious day to seek the blessings from Lord Adinatha.

Way to reach

To reach here, you can either take a train from Secunderabad and Warangal. The nearest railway station, Aler, is only 8 km from Kolanupaka. There are many buses at regular intervals between Hyderabad, Warangal and Aler.
