One of the very famous festivals is the Mysore Dasara, celebrated for ten days with great pomp and splendour. It is known as the 'Nadahabba' or state festival and belongs to the triumph of good over evil. Grand processions, cultural programs, and elephant parades in their majesty are poignant traditions of the festival. Finally, on the day of Vijayadashami, the festival comes out with a cultural parade that attracts people from far and wide to witness it. Yet another noted festival is Ugadi, or the Kannada New Year, marking a new beginning celebrated with traditional gaiety. This shall include special prayers and feasting, the preparation of one particular dish including 'Bevu-Bella'—a symbolic eating arrangement prepared with neem and jaggery, representing the different bitter-sweet experiences of life.

It also celebrates other popular festivals like Makar Sankranti, Diwali, and Eid, all combining to make up the mosaic culture of Karnataka.
