After the time of invading, the statue was carried back to Chidambaram. Later, it is said that the Lord Vishnu appeared in the dreams of Ramanujar and asked him to enshrine his image in Tirupati. The sculpture of Lord Vishnu in this temple is the replica of the deity of Chidambaram Perumal, one of the Divya Darshan for Vaishnavas.
