To keep alive the memory of the Buddhist Heritage of the state, the Lumbini Festival is celebrated every year in Andhra Pradesh with great fervor and pride. The festival is named after the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini.

The Nagarjuna Sagar Dam serves as the main venue for the Lumbini Festival which lasts for three days from the second Friday of the month of December till Sunday. Andhra Pradesh witnesses large tourists as wells as pilgrim footfall at the time of Lumbini Festival.

The celebrations and the splendour of this festival will take you back to 2000 years from now when Buddhism prevailed in the state of Andhra Pradesh. And the festival gives us an ample opportunity to cherish the teachings of Gautama Buddha from the different activities conducted during the festival.

Various cultural activities, shows, exhibitions of local crafts and artworks that wonderfully displays the Buddhist culture, tradition and art are the main highlight of this festival.
