Detailed Itineary

Day 1: Mumbai – Lonavala

Upon arrival in Mumbai, a friendly representative from South Tourism will greet you and help you embark on a scenic drive to Lonavala, a charming hill station just near Mumbai.

Nestled in the beautiful Sahyadri Hills, Lonavala is a beloved spot for nature enthusiasts and weekend adventurers alike. Once you check in at your hotel, take a moment to unwind before starting your sightseeing tour.

Start your adventure at the popular Lonavala Wax Museum, where you can see incredibly lifelike wax figures of both national and international icons. Next, make your way to Bushy Dam, a favourite weekend retreat near Mumbai, famous for its cascading waters and picturesque surroundings. While swimming isn’t allowed, you can still enjoy the refreshing mist and lush greenery, especially during the monsoon season.

Later, head over to the Bhaja Caves, a collection of rock-cut Buddhist caves dating back to the 2nd century BC. Take in the stupas, intricate wooden architecture, and ancient inscriptions that showcase the Hinayana school of Buddhism.

Day 2: Lonavala - Karla - Lonavala

After breakfast, drive to the village of Karla, a quaint town just 11 km from Lonavala. Explore the impressive Karla Caves, one of India’s oldest and most significant Buddhist cave complexes. These rock-cut caves, which date from the 2nd Century BC to the 5th Century AD, feature -grand chaityas (prayer halls) with soaring columns, intricate carvings and sculptures, and historical remnants once used by monks and ancient traders.

This archaeological gem is currently protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and offers a fascinating glimpse into India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. Explore the different caves at Karla before returning to the hotel.

Day 3: Lonavala – Mumbai – Departure
