Day 1: Mumbai – Lonavala

Upon your arrival at Mumbai, one of our representatives from South Tourism will receive and assist you for your onward transfer to Lonavala, a beautiful destination which can be reached by road on a drive for slightly more than two hours. Check into the hotel and relax for a while. Later, start to visit the popular locations of Lonavala. Spend your quality time in Lonavala’s Wax Museum and proceed to Bushy Dam, the popular weekend tourist spot. Except for swimming, you can enjoy the gushing of water streams from the Bushy dam, an exquisite experience indeed. Proceed to Bhaja Caves, known popular among the tourists for the rock cut caves with stupas and beautiful wooden structures representing mainly the Hinayana Sect of Buddhism. Return to hotel after your visit to Bhaja Caves.

Day 2: Lonavala - Karla - Lonavala

Post breakfast, drive to the village Karla which is at a distance of 11 kms from Lonavala. The place Karla is known to be a significant location at the border line of South India and North India. Karla is most prominent among the travelers for the rock cut caves. The caves are estimated to have been excavated between 2nd Century BC to 5th Century BCE. The huge halls with pillars on both sides with unusual styles of sculptures is a marvelous one to explore. The rock cut caves were preferred by the Buddhists for their monastic activities and few of the caves were used as a halting place by the traders passing by. Now, the entire region is under the protection and maintenance of Archaeological Survey of India. Explore through the different caves at Karla before returning to hotel.
