Manakkodam is a village situated exactly in the middle of Cochin and Alleppey. It shares 23kms (North) towards Cochin and 35kms (South) towards Alleppey. A day excursion can be suggested to the guests staying at Cochin. Manakkodam village is 2kms interior from the national highway (NH47)and many village people still follow the tradition and ethics set by their ancestors in following sense: food habits, clothing, work style, houses and many more. Anyone whoever visiting this village can have a clear picture about an old Kerala and its’ lifestyle
Programme Schedule
After coming out from the port, board the bus for Manakkodam and reach Gomez Villa. Your host greets you. Your host is an experienced tourism professional and conducting this activity from 2014 onwards. She owns a house in this village and always happy to welcome her guests with a due respect and compassion. She is your host as well as your guide too. Mrs. Margaret Ayona Durom is another delight who is passionate about cooking and well experienced in making various kinds of traditional dishes. Her cuisine will surely be a feast to your eyes and will stimulate your taste buds to have some out of it. This village activity is well managed and carried forward by host and her team (who are mostly women ‘women power’). Go around the village to visit the local market, houses, process coir yarn, coir mat making and match box making units. After exploring the village, return to the Villa where your delicious dishes are served. Your off shore cruise ends here and board the bus to return to your ship.
