Charminar Introduction :

It was built in 1591 by Muhammed Quli Qutub Shah who was the 5th Sultan of Qutub Shahi Dynasty, as to commemorate the end of the plague that had broken out in Hyderabad. One can admire the typical Islamic design at Charminar. Its four grand minarets and domes are worth taking a look at. And these four minarets is believed to symbolize the first four khalifas of Islam.

Charminar looks absolutely incredible at night with illuminated colourful lights. And the night street shopping around the monument is a wonderful experience. For all the ladies who are fond of bangles, the Laad Bazaar near Charminar is a real treat. Speciality Of The Place

The word Charminar translates to Four Minarets or Four Towers in English.

Marble, granite, mortar and limestone are the materials used to build this amazing monument.

Charminar is an exact square monument who’s each side measures a width of 20 meters. There are pointed arches having a width of 11 meters and a height of 20 meters on each side which are connected with minarets that are 4 storey buildings having a height of 49 meters.

The four minarets of Charminar symbolizes the first four khalifas of Islam.
