Rath Yatra Ahmedabad Festival - Gujarat
Being one of the grandest Hindu Festivals of all time, Rath Yatra of Ahmedabad is a spectacular celebration of Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad, just like Puri Jagannath Ratha Yatra. Since 1878, every Ashadh-Sud-Bij has been lit with the Ratha Yatra Festival. Balarama, Subhdra, and Jagannath are celebrated during this annual festival and it is a local holiday in Gujarat as it is a Lokostav (public festival).
The beauty of Jagannath Temple Yatra is in its key features like the super-excited spectators, akhada performers, the bhajan performing artists, trucks with decorated floats, slogan hoardings, and beautiful elephants walking in swag through the narrow yet vibrant streets of Ahmedabad. The legend of Ahmedabad Rath Yatra is more than 400 years old and the procession of Lord Jagannatha is the only time the god comes out of his abode to wish his devotees who cannot come to his place, especially those who are physically challenged.
