Situated on the shores of the seabed of Khambhat Gulf (Gopnath Beach), Gopnath Mahadev Temple is a beautiful destination just 22 km away from Bhavnagar District’s Talaja.

As a famous temple known as Narsinh Maheta, a renowned devotee of Lord Krishna did a great meditation of Lord Shiva. And, saw the Rasleela of Gopis and Shree Krishna. This is one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva and this spiritual destination was also frequented by Maharaja Krishnakumar Sinh Gohil of Bhavnagar. During the summer months (April to September) at his Gopnath Bungalow, a country estate by the Arabian sea.

As a diamond hub of the previous era, this was a place full of literary talents like Kavi Kant, Govardhan Tripathi, Ganga Sati, and Narsihm Mehta. Bhavnagar was one of the oldest port cities of India and also a popular site of the oldest and prestigious educational institutions.

Bhavnagar, a historical city located in the Saurashtra zone of Gujarat is an aftermath of the colliding events that happened during the 16th century. The erstwhile capital Sihor (before Bhavnagar) was changed to Bhavnagar by Gohil Rajput King, Maharaja Bhavsinhji Gohil in the year 1723. During 1807, this town came under the reign of Britishers and just before Independence, the last ruler of Bhavnagar, Maharaja Krishnakumar Sinhji handed the responsibility of his Bombay State to the elected representative in 1948, and soon Bhavnagar joined the rest of the Indian Union.
