Situating at about 2100 meter above the sea level, the Chembra Peak offers a tremendous trail for those adrenaline junkies seeking for an adventurous trek. Chembra Peak is the highest peak in the Western Ghats and is the highest of its kind in Wayanad.

Hence this peak is visible from any point in Wayanad. Approximately 3 to 4 hours is needed to trek the top of the Chembra peak. After trekking for a Kilometer, you will reach a watchtower about 15 to 20 minutes, which is the first stop on your way to the Chembra Peak and you will get a preview of the peak from there. After trekking for another 2 Km which takes approximately 1.5 hours, you will be very surprised to see the true gift of nature - the Hridhayathadakam - the heart-shaped lake.

This lake never goes dry even during the harsh summer season and is one of the topmost tourist attractions here. The lake looks so enchanting that it will leave you in awe. The trail gets steeper as you go high and the last part of the trek is the most difficult one. On your trek, you will come across several birds and animal species of the forest area of this peak like elephants, deer, guar etc.

Finally, a trek through 1.5 Km which takes about 2 hours, you will reach the final destination - the Chembra Peak. At the top, you will feel like you are in heaven, walking through the clouds, and you are greeted with a surreal 360-degree view of the entire region of Wayanad nestled with lush greenery. Despite the rugged terrains which are extremely challenging, Chembra Peak is worth the climb that offers lush green panoramic views.

As there is a threat from lurking wild animals, overnight camping is not allowed at Chembra peak. Chembra Peak can be visited all the year round. But it is better to avoid the place on the rainy season, as the peak can be quite slippery during the heavy monsoon seasons.

The enchanting heart-shaped lake called Hridhayathadakam is the major attraction of the Chembra Peak. The romantic ambience with picturesque settings dotted with colourful flowers and green grass also the butterflies swarming around your heads makes this place so breathtakingly beautiful. This lake never goes dry even during the harsh summer season.
