Kappad beach is a legendary beach on whose shores the Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama first stepped onto Kerala over 500 years ago in the year 1498. And his arrival resulted in the emergence of Portuguese influence in Kerala.

A stone monument was installed by the government of Kerala that commemorates the "landing" of  Vasco da Gama at the Kappad Beach with the inscription, 'Vasco da Gama landed here, Kappa Kadavu, in the year 1498'.

Kappad Beach was earlier known as the Kappa Kadavu beach. This gorgeous beach with the hypnotizing views of the blue sea with golden sandy shores lined with coconut trees attracts a lot of honeymooners, beach bums and adventure lovers.

The rock that protrudes into the sea is a thrilling feature of the Kappad beach. An 800-year-old temple located near the beach also attracts the tourist.

 By Air - Karipur International Airport is the nearest airport to Kappad Beach which is at a distance of 23 Km. From there, one can hire a taxi or board a bus to reach Kappad Beach.

 By Rail - Calicut Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Kappad Beach which is at a distance of 16 Km. From there, one can hire a taxi or board a bus to reach Kappad Beach.

 By Road - Kozhikode is well connected to major cities of the country like Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangalore, Bangalore, and Mysore by road. Both KSRTC and private buses are always available to Kappad Beach.
