Manarcad Perunnal: Celebrating Faith and Tradition at St. Mary's Church in Kerala

Manarcad Perunnal is one of the well-known festivals celebrated by the Christian community in Manarcad, located in the Kottayam District. Held annually, this event takes place at St. Mary's Church in Manarcad. It's esteemed as a significant festival within the Christian community. Additionally, Manarcad Perunnal is referred to as Ettunobbu Perunnal since it spans eight continuous days during which devotees observe fasting.
Throughout these days, attendees often remain at the church from morning to night. One of the festival's main highlights is a grand procession featuring golden crosses and colourful umbrellas. The final three days are particularly notable, attracting thousands of devotees who gather for the grand procession.
As an offering, devotees customarily present parasols (umbrellas) to Lord Muthukkuda. This celebration occurs annually from September 1st to September 8th.
