Munnar is a place of peace, beauty and harmony. Incredibly beautiful hill town in the Idukki district is situated at a height of 6000ft in and is the most preferred summer destination in the state of Kerala. Munnar was an ideal place even during the British period in those colonial days.

The velvety lawns, cool mountain air heavily laden with the fragrance of wildflowers, the expansive tea plantations and the spice gardens, the gushing waterfalls that cascade from steep heights and the unique flora and fauna make it a beautiful destination to unwind.

This hill station has a lovely, little lake hidden within the rolling hills and green slopes known as the Devikulam Lake. It is believed that Goddess Sita Devi, the holy consort of Lord Rama came to this place and bathed in this lake and since then the place came to be known as Devikulam which means the lake of the Goddess.

Devikulam Lake is one of the popular tourist attractions here. Devikulam Hill Station is a trekking spot as well. Trekkers will have an enchanting experience trekking through the sprawling plantations and red gum trees.

Best Time to Visit

Devikulam is a year-round tourist destination. March to May is regarded as the best time to visit this charming hill station. The climatic conditions of this destination are pleasant and mildly warm all year round. The summer season and monsoon season is the ideal time to visit Devikulam. During the summer season, the climate is pleasant and cool due to the high altitude making it suitable for sightseeing, but the temperatures can drop rapidly during the night. January is the coldest month of the year with temperature ranging from 0°C to a maximum of 10°C. June to September is the winter season here that brings substantial rainfall. The temperatures are much cooler, and one can enjoy the lush green beauty of the place during this season.

 By Air - Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport to Devikulam which is 150 Km away.

 By Road - A vast number of buses runs from Kochi and Kottayam on a frequent basis to Devikulam. Cabs and taxis are also available to Devikulam.

 By Rail - Ernakulam and Kottayam Railway Stations are the nearest railway stations to Devikulam which is at a convenient distance of 149 Km and 132 Km respectively. On arrival at the station, you can board a cab or bus to further travel to Devikulam.
