Situating at the foothills of the lofty Western Ghats, Malampuzha is a tiny and picturesque hill station in Palakkad district of Kerala. The entire region of Malampuzha is covered with thick vegetation and the place enjoys a tropical and humid climate. Cash crops like coconut, arecanut, cashew, pepper and rubber grow abundantly in the fertile soil of Malampuzha.

Malampuzha is one of the famous tourist spots in Kerala. The Malampuzha Dam which is the largest reservoir in the state is the unique feature of this hill station. With numerous lush green lawns that has well-laid flower beds, the Malampuzha Gardens is a visual treat for everyone who visits this hill station.

It is also commended as the only rock-cut garden in South India. The sculptor Padmashree Neck Chand Saini is the master brain behind this garden which was made out of used plastic cans, tins, broken pieces of bangles, tiles, and other waste materials.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Malampuzha is from the months of April to August. Summer months of April to May is very hot with maximum temperature reaches a soaring 45 degree Celsius. This hill station doesn't experience severe winters. Winter season from September to March offers a very pleasant climate but not too cold.

The temperature during this season ranges between 20 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius. And it is the ideal time for sightseeing and exploring Malampuzha. Monsoon season starts in Malampuzha from June to September with heavy rainfalls. The access to the Malampuzha dam and the ropeways will be closed during the monsoon season and it is not recommended to visit Malampuzha during this season.

Way to Reach

By  Air : Coimbatore International Airport is the nearest airport to  Malampuzha which is 51 Km away. On arrival at the airport, you can either take a bus or hire a cab to reach Malampuzha.

 By Rail - Palakkad Junction Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Malampuzha. On arrival at the station, you can either hire a taxi or board a private bus from the Palakkad town which will take you directly to Malampuzha.

 By Road - Private buses are available from Palakkad town to Malampuzha at regular intervals. You can hire a taxi to reach Malampuzha.
