Peermedu is a small and charming hill station in Idukki district of Kerala which is known as an abode of pristine beauty and serene ambience of nature. It is ideally placed 3,002 feet above the mean sea level and is a holiday retreat for those who wish to spend a vacation in the laps of nature.

Peermedu was once the summer residence of the Maharajas of Travancore. It is believed that this hill station has got its name from the Sufi saint Peer Mohammed, who had a close association with the Travancore royal family. It is also believed that the name of this hill station came from guava trees that grows abundantly in the hills.

This hill station is tucked away from the usual hustle and bustle of the city, making it a perfect getaway for solitude seekers. Best Time to Visit

Peermedu hill station experience cool and pleasant weather throughout the year. But April to June and September to November is regarded as the best time to visit Peermedu. During the summer season, the temperature ranges from 15 degree Celsius to 5 degree Celsius while in winters the temperature ranges from 15 degree Celsius to 1 degree Celsius.

Both these seasons are recommended as the ideal season to explore the untouched beauty of the Peermedu hill station. The region receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season which may restrict your outdoor excursion.

Way to Reach

 By Air - Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport to Peermedu which is about 125 km away. On arrival at the airport, one can make use of a cab or bus to reach Peermedu.

 By Rail - Kottayam Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Peermedu. From there you can make use of a cab or bus to reach Peermedu.

 By Road - Peermedu is very well linked to the major cities in Kerala by road. Government and private buses run frequently from Kochi, Thekkady and Kumily to Peerumedu. Buses are also operated from the major cities like Trivandrum and Bengaluru.
