Cherai Beach, which is one of the most visited beaches in Kerala is a swimmer's paradise. This beach is located at a distance of 35 Km from Kochi. Cherai Beach is a pristine beach with shallow waters and has a coastline of about 15 Km. Hence, this beach is ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

This beautiful beach is background with green paddy fields and coconut groves. This beach is an ideal combination of both sea and backwaters. It has a variety of unique seashells with different shapes and shades. The beautiful view of the Chinese Fishing Net, also known as "Cheena Vala" towards the far end of the beach, is an added attraction of this beach. Cherai Beach is popularly known as the "Princess of the Queen of the Arabian Sea".

Another interesting thing about this beach is that Dolphins can be spotted here occasionally. There is a 400 m long walkway at this beach where you can enjoy a long leisure walk. The edges of this walkway are decorated with high mask lamps which makes the beach look more beautiful during the night. Cherai Beach is an awe-inspiring beach which is a favourite landmark of family and children.

There is a children's park on this beach where the children can engage some time playing. You can also spend some lovely moments with your family and friends in this park. Cherai Beach is perfect for surfing. It also offers water sports activities like water scooters, speed boats, snorkelling, and canoe ride which will definitely attract the adventure enthusiasts. The local life of the villages and the natural scenic beauty of this place can be explored by bicycle riding.

You can also hire a bike to explore the beauty of this place. Kite flying is another interesting activity done in Cherai beach. The annual kite flying festival is celebrated every year in this beach. In every December, Cherai beach celebrates a beach festival.

Cherai Water Sports : It is at a distance of 85 m. They provide various activities like the bumper ride, banana ride, catamaran sail, speed boat ride, kayaks ride, windsurfing, boogie boards, lay low ride, and kneeboards.

Aazhimala : - It is only 7.8 km from Poovar. Aazhimala surprises everyone with its enchanting beauty. The Aazhimala Shiva Temple located near this beach adds extra beauty to this beach.

Paliam Dutch Palace : This was the traditional residence of the Paliathu Achans, who were the Prime Ministers to the Kings of Kochi. When the royal house was threatened by the Portuguese, Paliathu Achan hid the King in this house. From then onwards, this house came to be called 'Kovilakam' or palace. It is at a distance of 25.1 Km from Cherai Beach.

Kuzhupilly Beach : This is a beautiful beach with backwaters, coconut groves and paddy fields nearby and is a perfect place for swimmers. It is at a distance of 21.1 Km.
