Flora and Fauna

Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary is a mix of dry deciduous, moist deciduous and semi-evergreen forest. Bamboos, Rosewood, Maruthi, Karimaruthi, Venteak, Vengal, Chadachi, Mazhukanjiram, etc constitute the moist deciduous forest. Veteria Indica., Lagerstroemia, Lanceolata, Terminalia Paniculata, etc form the semi-evergreen forest.

Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary provides habitat for elephants, panthers, tigers, jungle cats, civet cats, monitor lizards, monkeys, wild dogs, bison, deer, bears, and a variety of snakes are seen. It is also home to a variety of bird species like Peacocks, cuckoos, woodpeckers, babblers, owls, jungle fowls and many more. Varieties of butterflies can also be spotted in Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary.
