The Abbey Waterfalls is also known as Abbi Waterfalls and is 10 km away from Madikeri town. The water cascades down from a height of 70 feet and it is a picturesque sight to behold close to the Western Ghats.

Nature lover and wildlife photographers will love to explore this place entwined between aromatic coffee plantations and pepper vines of the spice estates.

An over bridge lying opposite to this waterfall gives an emphatic view of the gushing white waters. The splash of tiny drops falling continuously make your travel ecstatic. Brooks and mountain streams unite to form this beautiful waterfall in South India.

Abbi Waterfalls joins River Cauvery with it descend and is a huge attraction to shutterbugs. The main entrance is just 200 downward steps away and a traveler gets to inhale the scent of coffee, pepper, cardamom, and other spices.

The wide lens of the camera is best used at this juncture to click exotic pictures of this wild yet romantic terra.

Best Time to Visit:

Monsoon is the best time to visit this waterfall as it is non-perennial like most of the falls in South India. From July to October, Abbi waterfalls poses its best. Coorg is an authentic honeymoon spot during winter (10-25 degrees Celsius) from December to February. Wildlife safaris, birdwatching, homestays, Coorgi Wine, and visiting Kushalnagar Golden Temple Monastery in February for celebrating the new year with the Tibetan monks are must try winter activities. Late Monsoon is best for hiking groups and solo explorers. Cultural zealots should explore during this time of the year for enjoying the harvest festival, Kaveri Sankramana, and Madikeri Dasara. From June to September (20-30 degrees Celsius), the southwest monsoon lits the place with rainfall as close as 400 mm. Way to Reach:

 By Air -  Mangalore has the nearest international airport and is 165 km from Coorg. From Coorg to Madikeri it is less than 20 km in Madikeri-Virajpet road.

 By Rail -  Mysore is the nearest railway station which is 95 km away. Cab from Mysore is the best option to reach Coorg and then, Abbey Waterfalls.

By Road: Deluxe KSRTC buses run from Bangalore, Mangalore, and Mysore and the place is connected well with all other major South Indian cities.

Local Transport: Choose auto rickshaws and cars are preferable than the public mode of transport.
